One of the best things for an up and coming business to do when beefing up their SEO potential is to capitalize on trends. This does not mean getting their store managers to wear the latest in style; trends and trending topics are what drives the web.

Each day the side bar of Twitter and a page on Google called Google Trends list a number of topics that are on everyone’s minds. Sometimes they are hard to capitalize on, like fresh news stories and tragic events. Most businesses do not want their brand of soap or their bike repair shop associated with the latest celebrity meltdown. Other topics are somewhat predictable and great to use for your business. These include holidays like Mother’s Day for example and important pre-planned events like the Super Bowl or Academy Awards. Using these topics to drive the content of your blogs or social networking posts for the week can be very helpful for traffic while reminding consumers that your product is relevant to said event.

In any case the best and easiest way to capitalize on these trending topics is to utilize the services of an SEO company like Ajax Union. Through small business internet marketing you can make those topics into driving forces of your business.

Take for example a local hot dog stand. Sure, traditionally this is the sort of business that would be fueled solely by foot traffic. This is likely fine and chances are you can make a reasonable living in the right spot. For the ambitious among us though we may see the money making ceiling of this business and try and think of ways to expand.

One way is to build an internet following in any way you see fit. This can be through building a quirky brand identity or highlighting what makes your hot dogs superior to other frankfurters. Through targeted work of an SEO company you will find that your business will grow and what you formerly saw as a ceiling of potential was merely a stopgap on your way to bigger and better things.

Owning a business is all about your ambitions. Do not let the perception of the type of business you have stifle your ability to strive for more.

For many people there is a complete lack of new content on their website on any sort of regular basis. You may go to a page and find it looks like it was designed using one of those absurd HTML codes from back in the hey days of MySpace. Such a site is not likely to help your page ranking.

Instead, you should have an employee or your online marketing company update things on a more user friendly site. Simply adding a blog and writing posts about upcoming sales and new products arrivals can drive up your ranking very quickly. Of course they better be properly linked for keywords.

Keeping the content on your site current and making sure that your site is being properly maintained is one of the best services you get out of an SEO company like Ajax Union. They have teams of writers making sure that your business is being represented on the web on a regular basis and getting your name out all the time.

Perhaps you might want to consider an AnewB plan to start off.

Recently I attended a conference designed to network young creatives with professionals in their desired career paths. All through the conference people were passing out business cards with their information on it as well as swapping user names for twitter and other social media sites (if they weren’t already on their business cards.) They were tweeting during the conferences, asking questions of the panelists, and taking notes. It was a great victory for mobile computing as a whole.

However, there is a word of caution to this tale. They keynote speaker said that “success is 90% finishing the job at hand.” The moral of some of the panel speakers was “finish what you start.” Good advice for young creatives who sometimes bounce from project to project. But what if we use that same moral and apply it to social media networking?

When you meet someone at a conference you want to make them a part of your network. You want them to be able to you online (which is where an SEO company or a search engine agency comes in handy) and you want them to help you in your career. This is all well and good but doesn’t help you at all unless you follow through and contact these people after the conference has ended.

Who should you contact? Everyone who gave you a card, because you never know if you might have been sitting next to the next Steve Job or Martha Stewart. Social media follow-through is just as important as attending the conference and handing out those business cards in the first place!

Recently, online marketing companies and internet marketing agencies have been adding to their repertoire an influx of social media websites. Everyone is touting the importance of your presence on social media and how it can help you and your business.

They’re coming on fast and furious and “The New Facebook” is invented each and every day. Which one is going to hit big next and which ones are going to fold under due to lack of users? Well, there’s no clear way to tell. Who could have guessed that Pinterest would take off so completely and spread as it did? Were you around six years ago when Twitter emerged and wondered what it was all about?

It’s important to be able to go with the flow, use new platforms and new social media outlets. Don’t get pigeonholed into one and “dislike” another just because it’s new. The internet is changing, and so is the way that people are using it. Don’t get left behind or be outstripped by the newest technologies. Just roll with the social media changes. If one of your platforms goes down, you’ll have many more to fall back on.

They find it intimidating and don’t know exactly where to begin. This can be frustrating for those who are looking to social media for small business internet marketing or local internet marketing.

There are many skillshare classes out there that can teach you how to properly use social media, but honestly the best way to learn is to dive in. I’m not saying jump in the deep end of the pool without floaties, but you should enter the shallow end by way of the stairs. You’re never going to learn if you don’t do it.

Facebook has been around for awhile now and many people, while not familiar with the nuances of creating events or playing “farmville” know how to post photos and update their status. Try learning something new about social media each day. Today, try to figure out the new banner photo on timeline. Tomorrow, figure out how to retweet. Take it slow; you can do it. It’s important for you and your business!

All these things are true. Social networking sites also serve as a tool for companies to spy on people. If your company isn’t gathering data from social networking sites you are wasting a powerful resource.

After corporate America co-opted love, freedom, virtue and truth in the 1990s and 2000s they moved on to friendship. Friendship proved a more formidable foe than the aforementioned notions however. It is hard to be friends with a corporation. I mean I love Burger King, but I am not in love with Burger King.

Now that I am friends with Burger King online I can see it every time I turn on my computer and every time I walk down the street. Soon visiting the Burger King Facebook page will make your computer emit that oh-so-familiar Burger King odor. Burger King in turn gets to see everything I do, say and buy. If that isn’t friendship I don’t know what is. Online marketing is great because it speaks to the notion that corporations are people too. Your company can become human too, by using online business marketing.

Sometimes you wonder how you’re going to keep track of it all. But there’s a new kid on the block who’s making sharing things very easy. This kid is called Pinterest. This site provides an innovative and visual way to share your interests, likes, and opinions. Using a virtual pinboard, this social media site tacks pictures from hyperlinks you add, with a space for your commentary. This way you get a visually appealing and quick snippet of what you think. It’s not long and outdrawn. It’s kind of like a picture version of twitter, but a lot more fun to browse.

Businesses and individuals to combine efforts and spread word of the latest trends and favorite products. It’s a way for online marketing companies to share the wonderful services provided that consumers may find intriguing and may otherwise not have known about. And it is all done through a visual medium. People respond very quickly to visual stimuli. Having an online presence through imagery is just as powerful a tool as the written word. If you can’t say it, show it.

Businesses and individuals can plan boards to organize their goals, such as planning a wardrobe, or a wedding, or a dream home, or more. The options are limitless for small business internet marketing and promotion of new products.

Keywords are quite literally the key to successful business marketing over the internet. Blogs are no different. For a blog to do what you want it to do – that is, rank highly in search engines and allow customers access your website from the blog – you need to strategically use pre-chosen keywords specific to your product or service. Too many keywords and search engines will not list your blog; too little will not be effective enough to be found or rank at all. You need to find that sweet spot that will get you to at or near the top of search engine results. That said, the content has to be good as well. You cannot just write off-topic, misspell words, and then throw in your keywords; search engines will pretty much ostracize your blog. Visitors will do the same and traffic will slow down and eventually disappear. No one wants that to happen.

Business blogs do not do much by themselves. Keywords do not do anything by themselves. Marrying the two correctly will give you a successful internet marketing strategy.

When it comes to setting up your keywords, you need to think local. What is that your business does? Do you fix cars, sell insurance, offer some kind of help in law? Who are the people you want to attract? Locals. You want people in your immediate area that you can help with your services. So when you are looking to market online, you need to focus on the community.

So you want keywords about fixing cars. If your keywords are broad, you are competing with thousands upon thousands of other auto shops in the nation. But if your keywords include the specific city or state that your business is in, this changes your search results immensely. Because when someone wants their car fixed, they need a place next door, not 5 states over. So they’ll search for their town or city. And when they do, your company will come up, because you knew how to take on local internet marketing and choose the right keywords.

It’s all about targeting specifically when it comes to internet marketing. Choose your keywords, be specific and don’t stray from them. You’ll be up in the search engine ranks sooner than you think!
